This
is the website of Jaap Mulder, wildlife researcher since 1980. In the
course of the years I have specialized in carnivores, and even more in
the red fox Vulpes vulpes. In
the past I did research on a variety of topics, a list of which can be
found on the project-page. Currently I am, as a wildlife consultant,
mainly involved in nature management problems in the Netherlands, often
related to predation. For instance: What are the options for the
prevention of predation? Is it necessary to kill foxes where the hamster
is reintroduced? If so, what is the best option for the time of year and
for the extent of the area where you try to kill foxes? Et cetera.
On
this website you can also find the reports and other publications which
I wrote, and download most of them. Many are in Dutch only, but may
contain an English summary. Feel welcome to ask me anything about it!

The
documentary 'Bloody Fox' (80 minutes) has been rewarded with the great
prize for the best documentary of 2009 during the Dutch Film Festival in
Utrecht, september 2009. The film deals with the dilemma's around fox
management in the Netherlands, and (among others) follows me during my
fox research in different parts of the country. It was televised in
September 2010, and may in the future be sold to TV-stations in other countries.
Here the trailer.
